Went on a trendtour through Eindhoven with my students of the minor Trendwatching. We visited:
Hidden Beauty - temporary street art expo and shop. Founder Dave van den Berg explained to the students his motivations to beautify the city of Eindhoven. Which means not always doing things by the book. This weekend you can visit the international graffiti festival Step into Arena in Eindhoven to dive into this inspiring world of taggers and piecers.
Igluu - flexible work space. Igluu Eindhoven started just half a year ago and provides work spaces for freelancers. It’s premises is brand new and shiney, but not really filled with flexworkers. My students posed the question why Igluu works with a fixed subscription system based on a monthly fee, while promoting they’re so flexible. Bull’s arrow! It might explain why it’s still a bit empty. ;)
Van Berlo - international product design agency. Their trendwatcher, Zuzana Skalska, held a very inspiring talk on how to watch trends (don’t watch soap operas, watch the news!), the future of trends and ofcourse an overview of trends. Check out her ‘360 inspiration’ blog to keep yourself up to date. Product designer Sander Thijssen showed us how Van Berlo uses trend and market research as input for their creative design process.
Eindhoven:go and visit!
